‘Reign’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 20 Synopsis Leaked Online; What Will Happen In ‘Higher Ground’? [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

The end is near! Only two episodes remain until the highly anticipated season 1 finale of “Reign,” and fans of the CW series definitely won’t want to miss episode 20.

Last time “Reign” viewers left off, Francis had acquired an army for Mary in order for her to help her mother against the Protestants in Scotland. But after speaking with King Henry, Francis decided to use the army to help France attack England.

Needless to say, Francis’ decision put an additional strain on his marriage to Mary. However the pair put their differences aside when Francis revealed that he’d be leading the army to combat.

Episode 20, “Higher Ground,” will find Francis taking on his new role as commander – and immediately getting involved in some fighting. The promo video shows the future King of France battling with his sword, running through the woods and using a flaming arrow to fight his opponents. But he won’t be alone in the war. Besides his new army, he’ll find an ally in Leith – the former castle kitchen help who was forced to join the army after getting caught with Greer!

Meanwhile back at the castle Mary will be embarking on her own war. The Queen of Scotland will “enlist a mercenary to help her,” which opens up a whole new set of doors with her. As the synopsis teases, the mercenary will force her to “realize there are sacrifices and lies she is willing to risk to save her country.”

“You’d send an innocent to their death?” Bash questions Mary in the promo video.

“I don’t know what I’m capable of anymore,” Mary responds honestly.

But whose lives will she be risking? The “Higher Ground” promo video also highlights Queen Catherine getting kidnapped and chained to the ground. Could Mary have played a part in her captivity?

“Reign” fans will have to wait and see what kind of fate lies ahead for Queen Catherine. But the Queen isn’t the only one with a problem. Lola is growing “increasingly suspicious” that her new husband, Lord Julien, is going to betray her.
