  • Kathryn Prescott doesn't have any family members living with her in NYC
  • Her sister wants to fly to NYC but the U.S. Embassy denied her request
  • She is asking for assistance with possibly appealing the decision

Actress Kathryn Prescott is in the intensive care unit (ICU) after being hit by a cement mixer. Her twin sister, Megan Prescott, broke the news in an Instagram post on Thursday.

In her message, Megan said her sister was crossing a New York City street on Wednesday when she was struck by a truck. The “24: Legacy" actress survived the incident but was critically injured.

“After fighting through complex surgery some of Kathryn’s injuries include: broken pelvis in two places, both of her legs, her foot and her left hand,” wrote Megan. “She narrowly avoided paralysis. The doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery but this will only be possible with the correct care right now,” she added.

Megan went on to explain that Kathryn is living alone in NYC and does not have family members to support her. She said she was hoping to fly to the States to look after her, but the U.S. Embassy denied her request on Sept. 9. This led her to ask for help with possibly appealing the decision.

“I need help getting to New York to support her recovery,” she said. “I will have to help her until she can start to walk again. I need to be there to help her with literally everything as she will be able to do incredibly little by herself. She will be in rehab for a very long time and will need 24-hour care after she leaves the hospital,” she added.

Megan also said she didn’t know what to do since she knows she has to get to Kathryn to take care of her but she has no way of doing so.

“I know there is so much going on in the world right now but I am heartbroken that I can’t be with my twin sister in this horrible time in her life when she desperately needs me—I don’t want her to go through this alone,” she explained.

Her post drew messages of concern in the comments section, including one from Kathryn’s “Dude” co-star, Alexandra Shipp. “This is so terrible! I’m sending you guys love. I’m going to figure out how to help!” she wrote.
