Reliance Launches CDMA Tab in India: Should Aakash and BSNL Low-Cost Tablets be Afraid of the Latest Android Device? (Specs and Tariff Plan)
Reliance Communications, known as one of the major carriers in India, has released the country's first CDMA tablet, dubbed as Reliance CDMA Tab. The latest tab joins the 3G GSM tablet bandwagons from Reliance that are already available in the market.
Meanwhile, the market for cheap tablets is booming in India. With the launch of Aakash, the $35 tab, and the recently released BSNL tablets, the battle of low-cost tabs is getting fiercer in India.
The latest Reliance CDMA 7-inch tab comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, capacitive display and a budget-friendly price tag of Rs. 12,999 (260 USD or 200 EUR).
Reliance Communications this time has released a Google-certified tab that will provide more than 250,000 apps through Android, Google Map & Google Search, R World Online and will also include 15 other popular entertainment, social networking and communications apps. RCom has also offered various data plans with the tablet starting from 1GB of mobile data and goes up to 5GB. According to the company, the new tablet will enable consumers to make voice calls and is coming with both voice and high-speed data connectivity on the go.

Display - The Reliance tab sports a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch TFT-LCD WVGA screen that comes with 800 X 480 pixels. The tab weighs 397gms and, according to Reliance, this is the best pocket tab available in India.
Processor and Memory - The tab comes with Qualcomm 800 Mhz processor with 512 MB ROM and 512 MB RAM. Experts believe, the Reliance tab could be sluggish when compared to other tabs armed with Dual Core Snapdragon from Qualcomm, Nvidia Tegra or latest quad-core processor. According to technopundit.com, Reliance 3G tablet has no flash memory and is dependent upon external memory, which can be extended up to 32GB via microSD card. The company is offering 4GB MicroSD Card free.
Operating System - The Reliance CDMA Tab will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Any update of the OS to Google's latest Ice Cream Sandwich has not been reported yet.
Camera - Reliance 3G tablet comes with a 2 megapixel rear snapper and a front VGA camera for video conferencing.
Battery - The Reliance tab comes with a standard 4000mAH Li-On battery that can give up to 5 hours of talk time and 150 hrs stand by time.
Additional Features - Reliance 3G tablet comes with an inbuilt GPS, MP3, MP4, Video recorder, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, Voice calling, GPS, Alarm, speaker phone, MobileTV, Live TV, SMS features. As an Android tab, the latest Reliance device features You Tube, Google Map & Google Search, Android Market, Facebook, Twitter and Gmail.
