  • Manchester United has had a pretty eventful transfer window thus far
  • Jadon Sancho's arrival has Wayne Rooney excited for his former club
  • Rooney says of Sancho: "He scores goals, creates goals"

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is currently spending his retirement from his playing career in transitioning to being a manager for Derby County.

The club narrowly avoided elimination from the English Football League Championship to League One thanks to a 3-3 draw with Sheffield on Wednesday.

For Manchester United, the club has had a very successful and noisy summer transfer window as the club looks to make a run back to the top of the table and knocking off cross-town rival Manchester City’s vice grip on the English Premier League trophy.

With the imminent arrival of Jadon Sancho to the club at Old Trafford, Manchester United is also looking to add more talent across the board as they look to throw transfer bids at many key players, highlighted by Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

The Sancho saga with Borussia Dortmund had taken much of the club’s attention away this summer as it took the two clubs a year before they came to terms for the prolific goal-scorer.

Rooney’s Derby County suffered a 2-1 defeat at a friendly against Manchester United, and he has nothing but good things to say about the club that made him a legend in English football.

“He scores goals, creates goals, so I think it’s a very good signing,” Rooney said of Sancho.

“They (Manchester United) are in a period now where the fans will be wanting success, silverware, and Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and his coaching staff will be under pressure to deliver that.”

However, he thinks that they are a few pieces away from truly being able to cement their claim for the top of the Premier League.

“It’d be good to see them get a few more players in and then that might mean they can give me a few more players which they don’t want to use,” he jokingly stressed.

While Sancho isn’t officially in the Manchester United lineup as of yet, the club has announced that they had come to terms with Dortmund, meaning that there might be some paperwork that needs to be addressed before they officially add him to the club roster.
