Popular video game streamer Ninja is stepping up big time to help the victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, Ninja – whose real name is Tyler Blevins – took it to Twitter to announce their $150,000 donation to Feeding America. The pro Mixer streamer cited in the caption that he and his wife were inspired by Jimmy Fallon and Ryan Reynolds, who both donated to the non-profit organization.

Feeding America, as described in their website, is “the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.” They are a network of hundreds of food banks that feed millions of people in the U.S. through food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens and other community-based groups.

"To be in the financial situation that my wife and I are in right now is incredible, so one thing we wanted to do was give back as much as we can to a lot of the families that are being affected,” Blevins said at one point in his video tweet.

Furthermore, Ninja encouraged other people to take the coronavirus seriously, especially with more and more people getting infected by deadly diseases. He highlighted practicing social distancing and staying positive amid the crisis.

He also urged other people with extra money to donate to other worthy causes, especially during these trying times.

For what it’s worth, Ninja is best known for streaming Epic Games’ battle royale Fortnite. As he rises to fame, he was able to land an exclusive deal with Mixer that reportedly pays him $20 to $30 million.

Blevins and his wife’s donation will certainly go a long way, but more action certainly needs to be taken by the people and the government to flatten the curve of the coronavirus spread.

According to the latest statistics, more than 378,000 cases have been recorded worldwide. Over 100,000 of the coronavirus victims have recovered, but there have been over 16,000 deaths as well.

The US now has the third-most case in the world with over 43,000 infected patients. There are already 557 recorded deaths, most of which came from New York and Washington.

Aside from social distancing, everyone is advised to stay at home and practice proper hygiene. If someone is experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, they are advised to self-isolate for at least 14 days.
