WWE can comfortably pat themselves on the back after putting on a spectacular WrestleMania weekend, but the rumors surrounding Ronda Rousey and her supposed displeasure about not being in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night 1 continue to linger.
It was reported ahead of the tentpole event that Rousey decided to leave the taping of the Hall of Fame induction ceremony last Friday, April 1.
However, Rousey herself talked back to this report via Twitter and claimed that she left early because she had to go take care of her six-month-old baby at that time while also airing out her frustrations about the previous report about people “creating drama out of thin air”.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, who reported on Rousey’s frustrations, then replied to Rousey on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, now saying that he heard the report from her inner circle who also happens to be friends with him.
“They’ve been talking to me about Ronda since she came to WWE. I was told that Ronda was furious that she was not main eventing WrestleMania. I didn’t say she almost quit,” Alvarez claimed as quoted by Ringside News.
“I was told that she was furious about it and she left the Hall of Fame on Friday, but she came back on Saturday and she ended up doing the match… Her friends told me that she was furious about it too. I’m just telling you what happened.”
Whether or not Alvarez was telling the truth, Rousey still went on to put a hard-hitting match with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.
Flair went on to retain the belt against the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble winner in the penultimate match of Night 1.
The match received mixed reviews from fans due to the bout being sloppy, but it still delivered on the action nonetheless.
“There’s no lying going on here. There’s nothing being made up. There are two sides to this story,” Alvarez later added.
WrestleMania 38’s two-night card drew flack because of the number of celebrities being involved, but surprisingly, they were able to put on a great show for the fans throughout.
