‘Resident Evil: Project Resistance’ Will Have Offline Mode, Producer Says
The producer for the new “Resident Evil” game “Project Resistance” announced that the new multiplayer title will have an offline mode.
Earlier, Capcom revealed that the new “Resident Evil” game “Project Resistance” will be a multiplayer game that puts four players in a quest to make it out of a zombie infested map before time runs out. These four players will each choose a specific character and must work together to survive attacks as they make their way.
Another player, taking the role of the “Mastermind,” will oppose the four and do what it takes to stop them from reaching the exit. The Mastermind can use the environment, security cameras, traps and zombies to achieve this.
While the idea of playing a multiplayer “Resident Evil” game with a formula similar to “Dead by Daylight” sounds exciting, longtime fans of the traditional game are worried that it will be limited to online multiplayer, Windows Central noted. Thankfully, the game’s producer said that won’t be so.
Offline mode
In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, “Project Resistance” producer Masachika Kawata said the upcoming title will have an offline mode that will allow players to enjoy zombie-killing action without the need to connect to the internet.
“The version we showed at TGS 2019 was an online game mode, but we are fully aware that there many are Resident Evil fans that expect the story in the game,” he said.
“In an effort to satisfy our fans, we will have an offline mode that is focused on the narrative component,” he added.
More experiences
The game producer also spoke at length about the game’s characters, and said that there will be more Masterminds and survivors in the long run.
“At TGS 2019, you only experience Daniel as Mastermind, but there are many variations of the Mastermind. The same goes for the survivors and there are more survivors with unique skills and looks that we are planning to add into the game,” the producer said.
Simply put, players who will play as survivors will only get to choose from Samuel Jordan, January Van Sant, Valerie Harmon and Tyrone Henry once the game is released. Players who will play as the Mastermind, on the other hand, will only be able to play as Daniel Fabron. Masachika's words indicate that this will change over time, however, with players being given more choices to choose from.
