‘Resident Evil Village’ Art Director Reveals Lady Dimitrescu’s Towering Height

Following the massive social media reaction, Capcom has finally confirmed to players and fans just how tall the towering vampire woman in “Resident Evil Village” really is.

Capcom recently surprised the entire gaming world when it released the first gameplay trailer for “Resident Evil Village,” which was followed by a playable “Maiden” demo that lets players have a taste of the immersive game.

Those who watched the trailers saw just how detailed the game’s world is, which is comprised of different settings like a lavishly-decorated castle, the wild outdoors and the dark and dingy dungeons. The trailer also revealed some interesting characters such as the game’s protagonist Ethan Winters, terrifying enemies like monsters and witches.

One particularly character that got the public’s attention was a tall woman in white called “Lady Dimitrescu.” Players gave her that name likely due to the name of the castle where most of the game takes place.

Some fans were so enamored with this scary, towering persona that they tried to figure out just how tall she is. Kotaku’s Ash Parrish, obviously struck by the imaginary character, dug into the details, made a few calculations and arrived at a very tall number – 96 inches, which converts to 8 feet.

Capcom noticed all the noise the tall character made among players and decided to simply unveil her official name and official height.

In a tweet, “Resident Evil Village” art director Tomonori Takano said the team behind the game appreciates all the fanfare over Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. He added that he is hearing that the vampire mother’s “height is something of interest.”

To this end, he simply said: “If you include her hat and high heels, she’s 2.9m (approximately 9’6”) tall.”

Parrish’s calculations were correct. The towering monstrous woman who has gained many fans before the game is even released is indeed very, very tall.

One particular Kotaku reader named Kamigoroshi said Lady Dimitrescu seems based on the Japanese urban legend known as “Hachishakusama,” which literally means “eight feet tall.”

This character, per legends, is a tall woman who wears a hat and a long white dress – the very same things the “Resident Evil Village” version of “Tyrant” or “Mr. X” wears.
