As the NFL world focuses on his recovery from knee surgery and when he will return next season, Washington Redskins superstar Robert Griffin III has reportedly been planning a wedding.

The 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year is set to wed Baylor sweetheart, fiancée Rebecca Liddicoat this summer, according to the Washington Post.

Citing an interview his mother Jackie gave to a local television station, the Post also linked to a registry under the couple’s names at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and the date is apparently July 6.

Griffin proposed to Liddicoat back in 2010 after he scored four touchdowns against Kansas State at Baylor. The Washington Times describes the entire scene, with Griffin serenading Liddicoat and getting his teammates involved.

The couple have faced some derision for their mixed race relationship (Liddicoat is Caucasian), but Griffin’s mother cast all that aside to the Post.

“She doesn’t see him as African American; she sees him as a man,” she said. “He doesn’t see her as a Caucasian woman; he sees her as a woman.”

RG3 is currently rehabbing his surgically repaired knee, but whether he starts in Week One next season remains to be seen. He set the league on fire last season with the third best passer rating of 102.4, 3,200 passing yards with 20 touchowns, and 815 rushing yards and seven scores.
