Rich Piana Net Worth: Bodybuilder's Coma Status Remains Unclear
Champion bodybuilder Rich Piana's health status remains unclear days after he was put under a medically induced coma after collapsing and hitting his head in the bathroom of his Florida home.
While his girlfriend, fitness model Chanel Jansen, told his fans last week that Piana was doing "OK," she did not mention if the star was out of coma.
Piana, who gained fame through his videos posted on YouTube, has a net worth of $2 million. According to reports, most of Piana's income comes from his clothing and nutrition line. Piana also has a huge social media presence with over 1.2 million followers on Instagram.
However, the health condition of Piana remains unknown, and there has been no word on his recovery since Thursday, when his girlfriend Jansen shared his health status on Instagram.
Jansen shared a black-and-white picture of her clasping Piana’s hand, alongside which she thanked all his fans for showing love and concern about his health.
"The only update I'm permitted to give at this time is that he is alive, he is ok, and the excellent medical professionals here as well as myself and his close loved ones are doing all we can to get him back to a full recovery," she wrote.
After Piana's hospitalization on Aug. 7, rumors surfaced that the bodybuilder was dead. However, Jensen slammed the reports urging fans to pray for his speedy recovery. In her post, she asked for “positive thoughts, prayers and love.”
"I just want to be clear @1dayumay is STILL ALIVE. All myself and his family are asking for is POSITIVE thoughts, prayers, and love. PLEASE i'm BEGGING you all to have some respect and realize how EXTREMELY difficult this is for us. Thank you to all of you staying positive and sending well wishes, prayers, and love. We appreciate it more than you will ever know," she wrote alongside the Instagram photo.
Just days before being admitted to coma, Piana was seen enjoying at a bodybuilding show in Las Vegas. The star took to his social media accounts to share a photo along with fellow bodybuilder Dorian Yates.
However, law enforcement officials were called to Piana's house in Florida after his hospitalization, TMZ reported
“Emergency personnel responded to a possible overdose call at Piana’s home on Monday afternoon," a source told the news website at the time. “When they arrived, Piana was unresponsive and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was placed into a medically induced coma.”
The report said police found 20 bottles of steroids in the house, and Jansen admitted to responders that he had been taking them for more than 20 years.
The 46-year-old was open about taking steroids.
“If you have the choice to stay natural or do steroids, stay natural. There’s no reason to do steroids, you’re only hurting your body, you’re hurting yourself,” he said in an April 2016 YouTube video. “If you want to become a professional bodybuilder, guess what – you’re probably going to have to f---in’ do ‘em. You’re not going to have a choice.”
