Rick Ross Feuding With Birdman, Nicki Minaj? Listen To New Album ‘Rather You Than Me'
Rick Ross released his new album "Rather You Than Me" Thursday and took some shots at Birdman and Nicki Minaj. In the song, “Idols Become Rivals,” the MMG star dissed rapper Birdman for not paying his artists and producers.
“I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne/His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain/I watched this whole debacle so I’m part to blame/Last request, can all producers please get paid,” Ross raps in the third verse, addressing Birdman and Lil Wayne's feud.
Wayne is embroiled in a legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money Records after filing a $51 million lawsuit in 2015, claiming that the label withheld money related to his still-unreleased album, "Tha Carter V."
Ross also addressed Meek Mill's breakup with Minaj in the opening track, "Apple of My Eye."
"I told Meek I wouldn't trust Nicki/Instead of beefing with your dog you just give him some distance," Ross raps in the song.
After announcing the release of the album, Ross wrote about Wayne on his Instagram: "The Level of respect and Love that I have for WAYNE makes it hard to sit back and not speak on the situation. The streets need you.Being a Boss means having the courage to say the things everybody thinking but scared to say.I can't wait for you to hear it.Midnight. #idolsbecomerivals"
Responding to Ross' message, Wayne wrote on Twitter: “dam big bro that msg hit me in the heart and put the motivation on automatik start. I needed that. 1 boss 2 another.”
The feud between Wayne and Birdman has now been going on for years and dates back to 2014 when the former said Birdman and Cash Money Records refused to release his album.
However, earlier this year, Birdman said in an episode of Travis Scott’s Beats 1 radio show, .wav radio, that "Carter V" will be coming out.
“It’s definitely coming out. The situation with me and my son, bruh — I’m a put all of that behind us and just let it move forward,” he said, later praising Weezy by calling him “one of the best artists ever to do the game.”
