Rapper Rick Ross was involved in a drive-by shooting in Florida while celebrating his birthday with a female friend.

Ross, who turned 37-years-old on Monday, ate a restaurant and left in his Rolls Royce when he was shot at several times around 5 a.m., TMZ reports.

Neither Ross nor his friend were hit, as the bullets missed the car. As Ross tried to get away, however, he crashed into a nearby building. Neither party was injured in the crash, police stated.

Though it was not confirmed that Ross was in fact inside the vehicle, witnesses told NBC Miami that it was in fact Ross in the Rolls Royce. Police stated that the victims did not want their names released because they feared for their lives.

"The occupants of the vehicle have asked for their information to be withheld from being released," Fort Lauderdale Police spokeswoman Det. DeAnna Garcia said.

"They obviously, with everything that just took place, are fearful for their lives and their families lives."

Drive-by shootings have been too convenient in the rap world recently. In 2011, rapper M-Bone, who was in the group Cali Swag District, was gunned down in California in a drive-by shooting.

The 22-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle when another car pulled up and fired at least two rounds. According to E! News, M-Bone was pronounced dead when he was taken to the hospital.

Last year, rapper Young Buck, who was a part of 50 Cent’s group G-Unit, was shot at eleven times while in a vehicle with his girlfriend after leaving a nightclub. The rapper escaped unharmed, though a bullet grazed his girlfriend’s shoulder.

Rapper Tyga also was involved in a drive-by shooting last year when multiple shots were fired at his tour bus in Omaha, Ne.

Concertgoers threw items onstage during his performance, making Tyga angry. He made a threat to the people involved to meet him outside after the show, according to MTV.

After the concert, several bullets were shot at his vehicle. One of his upcoming artists, Honey Cocaine, was shot in the arm and another victim, Derrick Lowe, was grazed but refused treatment.

Rick Ross has yet to comment on the drive-by shooting.
