Rihanna To Showcase At New York Fashion Week In February
Rihanna will showcase her new collection for Puma at the New York Fashion Week next season. The singer opted to make a very low-key announcement of the show Tuesday. The “Diamonds” hit maker conveyed in a tweet with a link to an auction page which offered front-row tickets to the showcase as one of the prizes.
Titled Puma by Rihanna, the show will take place on Feb. 12. Fans will have to start bidding at $15,000 for the tickets, which are accompanied in the lot by several other prizes. The goodies include two business class plane tickets to New York, a pre-show styling package, backstage access, an invitation to the after-party, and a host of other gifts.
The other gifts include every piece from the Puma by Rihanna 2016 collection; signed pairs of her sold-out Creeper shoes in every colorway and a behind-the-scenes artwork signed by Rihanna. Of all the items offered in the auction also features a Christmas tree. The sparkling tress is described as “Rihanna’s Christmas Tree, 2014.”
The tree has “five separate units covered in black ice crystal mesh fabric with over 20,000 faux black ice crystals.” The “Umbrella” singer has put it in her house last year. The auction house Paddle8 is running the sale. All the money raised will go to Riri’s charity Clara Lionel Foundation.
The auction runs through Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. EST. The starting bid is $15,000. The charity was founded by Rihanna to honor her grandparents in 2012. The foundation funds health, education, art and cultural programs worldwide.
The singer, who was named the creative director of Puma in 2014, did directly drop any details of her NYFW show, except that it would be held on Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. The details of the venue have also not been revealed. However, her fans and followers all wanted to know about her much anticipated album “Anti.”
The big news is yet to be confirmed officially by RiRi or Puma reps. However, showcasing at a fashion week is not entirely new to RiRi. She showcased her River Island capsule collection at London Fashion Week in 2013.
