Rihanna Sits On Katy Perry's Lap At Album Pre-Release Party: Are They Friends Again? [PHOTO]

Rihanna and Katy Perry reunited on Monday, just weeks after Perry essentially stated their friendship was over. The last time they were spotted together was during the MTV Video Awards in September.

"I love her [Rihanna] and every time I see her, I'm reminded of the light that she has," Perry, 28, said in the most recent issue of Elle UK. " There's a lot of dark in this business. I know a lot of people out there with the most detrimental entourages -- they are the root of their demise. It's really unfortunate, but you can't save these people. My days of celebrity saving are over."

Rihanna, who just spent the week vacationing in her hometown, must not have had any issues with Perry’s comments because she attended her album's pre-release party in New York. Perry’s fourth studio album, Prism, is expected to be released in October. She even had a friend snap a photo of the pair as the Barbadian beauty sat on Perry's lap.

Rihanna dressed more demure than usual for the event, in a large black T-shirt that stated, “FAME,” and blue jeans. She accessorized with a clutch adorned with a cannabis leaf. Perry, 27, was dressed up in a leather skater skirt and black-and-white sweater.

The “Roar” singer, meanwhile, is back with artist John Mayer, after breaking up for the second time back in March. Perry was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand. They finalized their divorce in 2012.

Rihanna is also involved in an on-and-off relationship with Chris Brown, which is believed to be part of the reason Perry and Rihanna stopped hanging out in recent months. Perry reportedly didn't approve of the relationship.

Though Rihanna appears to be enjoying life, some staff members recently claimed that the pop icon has been “beyond horrible” since her latest breakup with Brown.

“Rihanna has never been easy to work for, but since she and Chris Brown broke up, she’s been beyond horrible,” an employee told Star magazine.
