RIP Whitney Houston: Singer Dead at Age 48; Twitter Fans, Music World React
Singer Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48, The Associated Press is reporting. Fans and the entire music world have taken to Twitter to offer their condolences.
The singer's publicist Kristen Foster confirmed with The AP on Saturday that the singer had died, but did not say what was the cause and where the singer passed away.
Houston's career was at its highed in the 1980s and 1990s. She is one of the world's best-selling artists and is known for hits such as How Will I Know, ''Saving All My Love for You and I Will Always Love You. She also had big screen success with the movie The Bodyguard.
Her body was reportedly found at the Beverly Hilton Hotel by singer Ray J, CNN's Justin Lear tweeted. Houston was scheduled to attend a pre-Grammy party on Saturday, which is hosted by music producer Clive Davis, he added.
The multiple Grammy Award winner also battled drugs for years and its use affected her music career and record sales. She has a troubled marriage to singer Bobby Brown with whom she shares a daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. Houston was born on Aug. 9, 1963 in Newark, N.J. She is the daughter of singer Cissy Houston. Davis reportedly discovered Houston in a New York nightclub and signed her on the spot, her Web site stated.
