After dealing with the worst of the Waves, Naofumi Iwatani and his comrades prepare for the next set of Waves in "The Rising of the Shield Hero" Season 2, Episode 1.

An ordinary college student, Naofumi is summoned to another world where he is a Shield Hero. He and his friends Filo, Melty and Raphtalia have worked hard to save people from the Waves of Catastrophe.

In the second season of "The Rising of the Shield Hero" anime, it is believed the Spirit Tortoise, a deadly monster, will bring about a severe disaster.

With the resurrection of the monster in the country of Spirit Tortoise Kingdom, Queen Melromarc requests Naofumi to subdue the monster.

Now, Naofumi sets out on a journey with a new party member named Lecia.

"Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary college student, is summoned to another world as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes—the 'Shield Hero'. Despite false accusations and a series of misfortune, Naofumi joined forces with his dear companions Raphtalia, Filo, and Melty, to protect people from the 'Waves' of Catastrophe," the official series synopsis read, as per Aniplus Asia.

"With his achievements and help from Queen Melromarc, Naofumi regains his honor and now owns a territory. He prepares to counter the next Wave. However, it is said that the 'Spirit Tortoise', a monster that will bring forth an unprecedented disaster, has been resurrected in the country of Spirit Tortoise Kingdom, east of Melromarc," the synopsis continued.

The cast of the anime includes Asami Seto as Raphtalia, Kaito Ishikawa as Naofumi Iwatani, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ren Amaki, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Itsuki Kawasumi, Rina Hidaka as Filo, Kana Hanazawa as Ost Horai, Kikuko Inoue as Mirellia Q. Melromarc, Maaya Uchida as Melty Q. Melromarc, Makoto Takahashi as Motoyasu Kitamura and Natsuko Hara as Rishia Ivyred.

The series is based on the original work of Yusagi Aneko and Seira Minami. The opening theme of "The Rising of the Shield Hero" Season 2, titled "Bring Back," is performed by MADKID. Meanwhile, the ending theme, called "Yuzurenai," is by Chiai Fujikawa.

"The Rising of the Shield Hero" Season 2, Episode 1 is releasing Wednesday. Fans in the U.S. can watch the second season on Crunchyroll. The episode will stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
