‘Riverdale’
More information about Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Archie (K.J. Apa), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) will be revealed in "Riverdale" Season 1, episode 2. The CW

“Riverdale” Season 1 will premiere on The CW at the end of this month, and an exciting central theme awaits fans.

Unlike the original “Archie” comics, whose storylines are hilarious and wholesome, “Riverdale” will revolve around the same characters, but they will be involved in a murder mystery. The plot of the series picks up after the death of a student of Riverdale High.

But even though the central theme for “Riverdale” is different from “Archie,” the characters in the series have obvious similarities with the characters from the comic books other than their names. Here are three similarities between the characters from “Archie” and “Riverdale.”

1. Archie

Archie will be played by KJ Apa. While speaking with the Los Angeles Times, series creator and executive producer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa said that the Archie in the series is a good kid who typically makes things worse first before he makes them better. “He is basically a good kid but he’s in much more adult situations than he ever was in the comic book. He’s wrestling with that, but his essence is still the same,” he said.

2. Betty

Betty will still be depicted as the typical girl-next-door who always wants to get good grades in school. Played by Lili Reinhart, Betty will soon realize that there are costs to being perfect.

3. Veronica

Veronica (Camila Mendes) is still the sultry student who gets the attention of majority of the boys. She’s pretty and rich, but not necessarily smart.

Additionally, just like in the comic books, the love triangle between Archie, Betty and Veronica will also be explored in The CW TV show. However, an interesting twist will also be included in the upcoming episodes. The teaser for “Riverdale” showed Betty and Veronica kissing each other.

“Riverdale” will premiere on The CW on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. EST.
