The identity of Jason Blossom’s (Trevor Stines) killer has finally been revealed in “Riverdale” Season 1, episode 12.

Prior to the not-so-shocking revelation, Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) first told their parents that they investigated Jason’s murder by breaking into Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) dad FP’s (Skeet Ulrich) trailer. Mary (Molly Ringwald) and Fred (Luke Perry), Archie’s parents, were enraged because they were concerned over Archie’s safety. Hermione (Marisol Nichols), Veronica’s mom, and Alice (Madchen Amick), Betty’s mom, were both convinced that FP was the one responsible for killing Jason despite the fact that Archie and Veronica told them otherwise.

FP was arrested by the cops, and during the questioning, he told the police officer that he was the one who murdered Jason. However, this wasn’t the truth. It was later on revealed that FP had to lie to the cops for fear that Jughead’s life will be put at risk. FP and another Southside Serpent member took care of Jason’s body by wrapping it in a bag and placing it inside a freezer. They were accessories to the crime, but FP did not pull the trigger on Jason.

Towards the end of “Chapter Twelve: The Anatomy of A Murder,” it was made known that Jason’s own father, Clifford (Barclay Hope), killed him. In the flashback scene, Jason is tied to a chair, and he was arguing with his dad. Inside his shirt’s pocket is an expensive engagement ring that he intended to give to Polly (Tiera Skovbye). Clifford removed the ring from his son’s pocket and then shot him in the head.

Prior to this, Betty’s dad, Hal (Lochlyn Munro), told her and Alice that their real surname was Blossom too. However, they severed ties with their family several years ago and used the Cooper surname. This means that Polly and Jason are third cousins, and Clifford did not like the idea that his son will end up marrying a distant relative. Unfortunately, Polly and Jason didn’t want to end their relationship because both of them were unaware of the fact that they were related to each other.

After Jason’s killer was named, Jughead tried to reach out to the police to ask if his dad, FP, could be freed. However, the police officer said that FP will be staying in prison for quite some time because he tampered with the murder evidence and lied about his involvement in the crime. An emotional Jughead was left with no other choice but to continue living with Archie and his family. After all, he tried reaching out to his mom and sister, Jellybean, but his mom discouraged him from visiting them.

“Riverdale” Season 1 will release its final episode next Thursday night, and it is expected to provide answers to some of the biggest cliffhangers in the hit The CW series. This includes Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) next move after she found out that Clifford killed her brother, as well as Polly’s future considering she’s still living with the Blossoms. Veronica’s mom, Hermione, was also extremely emotional in episode 12 because of her husband, Hiram (Mark Consuelos).
