‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Spoilers: New Betty, Jughead Teaser Photo Released

The CW just dropped a new photo for the upcoming second season of “Riverdale.”

In the snap, Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) are having a good time in their usual booth at Pop’s Diner. All four characters are enjoying their favorite milkshakes while sharing a laugh.

But the cryptic words on the photo somewhat gave away what could be in store for the two couples. “Here in this booth, we were safe,” the photo teased.

In the finale episode for Season 1, Archie witnessed his dad’s shooting by a masked man. The unnamed antagonist entered Pop’s Diner and pointed a gun at the store owner. When Fred (Luke Perry) tried to stop him from shooting, the masked man decided to fire at him instead. Archie immediately came to his dad’s rescue, but panicked at the sight of his blood. Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger regarding Fred’s fate, but he will most likely survive.

Meanwhile, a teaser for the cast’s photoshoot was released online via the show’s official Twitter account. The over one-minute teaser also featured the actors starring in other CW shows like “Jane the Virgin,” “Dynasty” and “Arrow.”

Apa makes a funny face in front of the camera. He is also joined by Mendes, Reinhart, Sprouse, Casey Cott, Madelaine Petsch and Ashleigh Murray in another scene. They pose in the group’s signature booth at Pop’s Diner at one point. Petsch, who plays the role of Cheryl Blossom, also has some screentime in the teaser. Reinhart and Mendes, meanwhile, goof off and dance in front of the camera.

But the fun times won’t last for Archie, Veronica, Jughead and Betty. The couples will face some problems in the upcoming episodes. Veronica’s dad and ex-boyfriend will reunite with her and will cause some problems between her and Archie.

Jughead will be heading to the south side of town and will be developing a close friendship with newcomer Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan). Toni will get in the middle of Jughead and Betty’s relationship.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EDT.
