“Riverdale” star Casey Cott has shared some details about his upcoming wedding to fiancée Nichola Basara in a new interview.
The 28-year-old recently sat down with Us Weekly to discuss his partnership with energy company BP America. However, questions about his personal life were also brought up during the discussion, including his upcoming nuptials.
According to Cott, who plays the role of Kevin in the CW series, he and Basara, also 28, decided to have a ceremony that would “be rather small” because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He admitted that they have one obstacle to conquer for their big day to happen, and it has something to do with their different nationalities.
The “Katy Keene” alum and his family live in the U.S., while Basara’s family reside in Canada. Given the restrictions that have been put in place due to the coronavirus crisis, he is hoping for things to go smoothly when his wife-to-be’s family travels to the country.
“My family lives in the States, obviously, and her family, they’re Canadian. So we’re hoping the border [situation] works out and everyone can pop up here,” he told the outlet.
Cott also shared that when he is not busy filming “Riverdale,” he is focused on their wedding preparations. He also said that he and Basara are now having a blast carrying out the things they have planned for their big day despite noting that things could get “stressful.”
“Luckily, we kind of planned a lot in the very beginning, and now we’re into the details, which is fun and exciting and stressful. But we’re having a blast. We are in full-blown planning mode. We may or may not be doing our food tasting this week,” he was quoted by the publication as saying.
The TV actor enthusiastically disclosed in the interview that his brother, Broadway star Corey Cott, will be the one to officiate his wedding with Basara. “[W]e’re really excited that he’s going to be very involved,” he added.
As for who among his “Riverdale” co-stars are coming to the ceremony, Cott did not get into the specifics, but he did say that some of his castmates will be there. He even shared that his co-actors are “aware of their responsibilities coming up.”
Cott first announced his engagement to Basara in December 2020. At the time, he took to Instagram to share a snap of him and his fiancée smiling to the camera as the latter flaunted her new sparkling diamond ring. He only used the diamond ring emoji in his caption to indicate that they just got engaged.
Cott currently stars alongside KJ Apa (Archie), Cole Sprouse (Jughead), Lili Reinhart (Betty), Camila Mendes (Veronica) and Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl) on the mystery drama that is currently on its fifth season on The CW.
In an interview with E! News this week, Cott teased what fans can expect from the Season 5 finale. However, his statement was rather vague and did not mention specific details on the fate of their fan-favorite characters on the show.
“Get ready, because in a very Riverdale way, it's beautiful and dramatic. But also, it always ends up the way it's supposed to be,” he told the outlet.
