A 47-year-old Florida man is accused of punching a teenage girl in the face after the minor cut him off in traffic as he was driving his Porsche convertible along a Tampa highway last week, police documents showed.
Stephen Irvin Saunders IV "became enraged" after the 16-year-old victim "accidentally cut off" his vehicle on Florida Avenue North around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, the Smoking Gun reported, citing a court affidavit.
Saunders followed the unnamed victim to an intersection, where he cut off the girl and stopped in front of her vehicle at a red light, the affidavit said.
He proceeded to exit his Porsche 911 and approach the teenager’s car. The victim, who had her window rolled down, heard Saunders yelling, "What the f--k are you doing? You stupid b---h! You cut me off," police said.
Saunders then reached into the victim's open driver's side window and "punched her in the face with a closed fist," police alleged.
The victim, who was described as having "a very youthful appearance," suffered redness, soreness and bruising to the left side of her jaw from the attack, the affidavit said.
It was unclear how the encounter ended, but the teenager was able to get a good look at Saunders' vehicle because of its "very distinct" white and black color scheme and the 911 "boldly printed" on the driver's side door, according to the affidavit.
An investigation later led to the identification of the Porsche and its registered owner, Saunders. Police gave the victim a photo pack that included Saunders, and the teen "quickly and definitively" identified Saunders as the person who punched her in the face.
Saunders was charged with felony burglary of a conveyance with assault or battery over the incident, according to an arrest warrant.
He was reportedly released from the Hillsborough County jail on $15,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty to the road rage count.
Saunders, who was identified as a self-employed investment banker in his booking sheet, previously worked as a manager at Alternative Capital Strategies, a Tampa investment firm that has been dissolved, state records showed.
