Robbie Williams concert breaks theatre record
A performance by British pop star Robbie Williams, broadcast to more than 250 theatres around the world, set a world record on Tuesday by having the largest number of screenings of a live concert in theaters.
The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that BBC Worldwide's live show of Williams' sold-out Electric Proms show, shown via satellite in venues in 23 countries, marked the most simultaneous cinematic screenings of a live concert.
Among the nations that played the broadcast in theaters are Germany, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Additional screenings will be shown in the next few weeks in auditoriums in Mexico City, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and other countries.
Williams also set a Guinness World Record when his 2009 Close Encounters tour sold 1.6 million tickets in one day.
