Netflix's "Sweet Tooth" trailer is out! The series, produced by Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan, is based on Canadian comic book writer Jeff Lemire's groundbreaking DC comic.
The "Iron Man" star took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the fantasy adventure show's trailer and wrote, "Me and the missus are excited to share a new trailer for our show @SweetToothNetflix."
"A post-apocalyptic fairytale based on the beloved DC comic. Arriving June 4th on Netflix!" the 56-year-old actor added.
Downey Jr. also introduced the new emoji of the limited series on Twitter. "Also, what a lovely surprise! Hello emoji #SweetTooth," he wrote.
The limited series revolves around a boy in a post-apocalyptic world, who turns half-human and half deer. The boy learns medical care to religious prophecy in his journey. Eleven-year-old actor Christian Convery portrayed Gus in the movie.
The series also stars Nonso Anozie, James Brolin, Aliza Vellani and Adeel Akhtar in key roles.
The series appears to have made some changes and dropped the dark tone of the original work. Netflix's adaptation of "Sweet Tooth" features a lighter tone and seems family-friendly.
Fans were excited after the trailer release.
One person wrote, "Really excited about watching the whole movie on screen after the trailer #SweetTooth has been released!!! Being born with different attributes is normal but in view of the world is it!"
Another fan commented, "I never thought seeing one of my favorite superheroes ironman in a dc comics project, it's super rare... but I know you are a great star, very successful in this project #SweetTooth Mr. Robert Downey Jr."
In an interview with Netflix on May 10, Downey Jr. said, "We heard there was this great graphic novel series. And it just had this incredible emotional breadth of the storytelling."
"We felt we could really hold on to the themes but make it a more enjoyable place. I just hope people have the experience that we get to have with our kids where we cuddle up on the couch and all watch it together," Susan added.
"Some of the best parts of the show are some of the new characters. To see something that you created in a sketchbook walking in front of you on a film set - it's wonderful," Lemire said.
The series is slated to release on June 4.
