Robert Pattinson Still Can't Believe He Will Replace Ben Affleck As Batman
Robert Pattinson and the other cast members of Matt Reeves’ reboot of the blockbuster "Batman" franchise will start the production next year. At the moment, the management is still in the process of finding people to portray the other vital roles in the upcoming new film, which include Catwoman, Two-Face, Penguin, and Riddler, among others.
Even after being named as the new actor to play as the Caped Crusader in “The Batman” film, Pattinson said he is still “shocked” over successfully getting the much-coveted role. Warner Bros. has, reportedly, closed a deal for Kristen Stewart’s ex-boyfriend in May.
"It's kind of insane," Robert Pattinson told Esquire UK. "I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I've got it, at all,” the former “Twilight” lead star went on. Pattinson was appointed to play the iconic role after Ben Affleck decided to let go of the character.
In a previous interview with Variety, Pattinson revealed that a Batman costume was the only one he had when he was young. The rumored boyfriend of Suki Waterhouse even said that he chased the Batman role after learning that a new script is in the works.
While he was campaigning for the iconic role, details about him prodding Reeves surfaced online. Robert Pattinson confessed it made his entire team feel upset since they thought that had blown up the whole thing.
Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart commented on Pattinson’s casting as the next Batman during the Toronto International Film Festival. The “New Moon” actress said she is happy for her ex-boyfriend and even described him as the only actor who could replace Affleck to portray as Bruce Wayne.
To recall, Robert Pattinson and Stewart became household names after starring in the “Twilight” film series, which is based on the vampire-themed novels of Stephenie Meyer. Their on-screen love affair turned into a real-life romance when they were confirmed to be dating in Oct. 2011. However, the two broke up, in December 2013, after the actress cheated with Rupert Sanders for months.
Reeves assumed the directing duties of the forthcoming new “Batman” franchise in January 2011. Dylan Clark will co-produce the franchise with the “Planet of the Apes” director. No official start date has been announced for filming the upcoming movie. Robert Pattinson's first "Batman" movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on June 25, 2021.
