Christopher Nolan is known for making movies that require multiple viewings not just because of the brilliant filmmaking, but also because of the complex storylines he features in his movies. Earlier this year, Leonardo DiCaprio admitted that even after 10 years of its release, the ending of “Inception” still remains a mystery to him.

But it seems DiCaprio is not the only actor who struggled to decipher the plot of a movie helmed by Nolan.

In an interview with Esquire, Robert Pattinson, who will be next seen in the movie “Tenet,” revealed that he struggled to grasp the plot of Nolan’s upcoming spy thriller. He admitted that he initially had the “wrong take” on his character and this made a huge impact on his performance.

Talking about the movie, the 34-year-old star explained that “Tenet” is an incredibly “complicated” movie that requires multiple viewings. Pattinson further stated that a film like this has to be seen when it is edited three or four times so that a person could understand its “true meaning.”

"It is an incredibly complicated movie, like all of Chris's movies. I mean, you have to watch them when they are completely finished and edited three or four times to understand what the true meaning is,” Pattinson said.

“The Lighthouse” actor also revealed that he had asked his co-star John David Washington about the movie and what was going on.

“On the last day, I asked him a question about what was happening in a scene, and it was just so profoundly the wrong take on the character. And it was like, ‘Have you been thinking this the entire time?’” Pattinson said.

The plot of the movie is currently unknown, but Nolan previously said that the feature film revolves around espionage, time travel, and evolution.

The “Dunkirk” helmer believes that “Tenet” is the most “ambitious” project that he has ever made in his career. “There’s no question, it is the most ambitious film we have made,” Nolan said.

The movie also stars Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Clemence Poesy, Himesh Patel, and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles.

“Tenet” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2020.
