Robert Pattinson Trades In Vampires For Superheroes As He Claims 'Batman' Role
Star of “Twilight” and all-around cool dude Robert Pattinson has reportedly landed the coveted role of Batman. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has given the green light for Pattinson to step into the world of the iconic character.
Initially, the studio had also been considering Nicholas Hoult, who starred in “Tolkien” and “Mad Max: Fury Road,” for the part and had been indecisive on who would be the best fit. However, Pattinson had been considered a frontrunner because director Matt Reeves liked him, Deadline reports.
Rumors had been swirling for weeks regarding Pattinson be the next Batman. He would be taking over the role from Ben Affleck who starred in two previous DC films.
The meetings to finalize the decision are said to have happened on Thursday and it is believed that negotiations will begin shortly. It is reported that these negotiations will also include working out a deal for at least two additional films, but that is thought to be a formality in the long process.
The newest film in the franchise, “The Batman”, could possibly see Pattinson's character could supposedly face off against such villains as the Penguin, the Riddler, and Catwoman, as noted by Collider.
As stated by Variety, pre-production is slated to begin this summer, but there is no official word on when filming will actually begin. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021, if all goes as planned, but until then, stayed tuned for more casting news and updates as there will be much more revealed as time goes on.
