Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman And More Are Now Playable In 'Batman: Arkham Knight' AR Challenges
The new "Batman: Arkham Knight" update is now available and lets players use Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Red Hood, Batgirl and Azrael in the game’s free flow combat challenges. Fans had complained about the lack of playable missions and challenges for the other characters, with developer Rocksteady clearly listening to the criticism.
Catwoman, Nightwing, Robin and Azrael will instantly be playable once the update has been installed. Players won’t have to reach specific points in the story mode to use them in the AR challenges, Eurogamer reported.
On the other hand, Batgirl, Red Hood and Harley Quinn will only be playable if users have their respective downloadable content (DLC) packs. Those that own the season pass will have instant access to all of the playable characters, but will need to install the extra story content in order to use the other characters.
The extra characters will have their gadgets and abilities from the main game and DLC story content. However, there will be no leaderboard scores for any of these characters, as Rocksteady stated that it would be impossible to support over 100 additional scoreboards in the game.
Interestingly enough, Kotaku has also confirmed the removal of the blue walls that were in all of the AR challenges. Many fans had found them distracting and made the limited movement feel worse, so it’s good to see the developers listen to fan complaints.
An update in November will make these characters playable in the Invisible Predator AR challenges. More DLC content will be released in that month and fans can look forward to an announcement by the developers at the end of October.
Speaking of October, the "Catwoman’s Revenge" DLC is expected to come out sometime this month, along with the Tumbler DLC, though no release date has been given. The original Batman suit from "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is currently available as a free download.
"Batman: Arkham Knight" is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC version getting a re-release soon now that some of the major problems have been fixed. Neither Rocksteady nor Warner Bros. have announced when the DLC will be available for PC users.
