Robin Roberts Leaves ‘Good Morning America’ Early And Receives Warm Tweets From Celebrities [VIDEO]
Robin Roberts left "Good Morning America" temporarily after Thursdays shows and she received warm tweets from fellow celebrities wishing her well as she fights her illness.
Roberts announced that she had MDS, a blood and bone marrow disease in June. Her last day on "GMA" was supposed to be Friday, but she announced she would be leaving a day early to be with her ailing mother in Mississippi.
The anchor tweeted to her followers, "Dear ones, this is my final morn @GMA for a while. Heading home after the show to be w/ my ailing mom in MS. You'll be in my heart & soul."
Roberts will be in the hospital next week where she will receive a bone marrow transplant from her older sister Sally-Ann Roberts, who was with Roberts on her last day at "GMA" Fox News reported.
After Robert's post Anne Curry's replacement anchor Savannah Guthrie, comedienne and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg and Ann Romney all tweeted Roberts.
Pam Grier wrote to Roberts, "Robin Roberts, get well soon! Sending you strength and prayers!"
"@robinroberts keep on fighting! We all stand with you! #teamrobin," Ann Romney tweeted.
Savannah Guthrie posted, "Much love and admiration for @robinroberts. We are praying and pulling for you"
WhoopiGoldberg shared, "Hope y'all are tweeting @RobinRoberts all this out pouring of love! & @SamChampion @JoshElliottABC @GStephanopoulos & Lara Spenser as well"
Chris Cuomo said, "@RobinRoberts - focus on the fight not the fear. We pray for strength and for healing. Soon, her smile will brighten our day again #amen"
Roberts doesn't have a set date to return to "GMA" but she said that she will come back "as soon as I can."
Oprah is rumored to be one of the stars who will replace Roberts while she takes a medical leave from the show.
