The Rock Launches Rugged Wireless Headphones Built By JBL, Under Armour
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has launched his very own pair of wireless headphones. Called Project Rock Edition, the new headphones are built by JBL and Under Armour, and they are designed to survive extreme workouts.
The Project Rock Edition headphones are a custom version of Under Armour’s Sport Wireless headphones. The Rock’s headphones come with his signature Brahman Bull insignia and feature Under Armour fabrics and a rugged design with an IPX4 rating. The headphones are said to be designed for users who like listening to music while having intense workouts.
Project Rock Edition headphones also come with SuperVent lining around the ear pads along with Under Armour’s grip material to ensure that the headphones stay in place. The grip material is on the inner parts of the pads and the headband, according to The Verge. The SuperVent fabric is also removable and is hand-washable. These headphones are sweat-proof and are foldable. They also come with a ventilated hard case.
“Like you, my gym time is critical. It’s our time to shut the world out and anchor in. I prefer training in ‘over the ear’ headphones, but have been consistently disappointed (pissed is a better word) with every pair, from every brand that just couldn’t handle my workouts,” Johnson said on his Facebook page. “I thought if no one is going to design headphones BUILT FOR TRAINING, then I would. And I’d make them the best.”
The Project Rock Edition headphones promise 16 hours of battery life with their 610mAh battery. Charging the headphones for just 5 minutes through the microUSB connector will provide users with an hour of musical experience. The headphones are using Speed Charge fast charging technology. JBL’s Charged Sound technology will provide users with rich bass through the headphones’ 40mm drivers. Engadget says that the headphones are a little bass heavy, but not as much as Apple’s Beats headphones.
The headphones also have Talk-Thru technology, which automatically lowers the music down and turns on microphones so the users will be able to talk to people nearby without actually taking the headphones off. The microphones can also be used for taking calls and giving voice commands to Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.
The Project Rock Edition headphones support Bluetooth 4.1. The headphones will ship with an included audio cable and users have the option to use the 3.5mm headphone jack for wired listening. The controls on the headphones are located on the right side. The volume buttons are also used for skipping songs. Holding down the volume up button will skip forward to the next song, while pressing and holding the volume down button will skip backward.
The Project Rock Edition headphones are now available on Under Armour’s website and retail stores for $249.
