The biggest star in Hollywood has a new show coming to TV at the start of 2019. “The Titan Games,” produced and hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will premiere Thursday night on NBC.

Thursday’s two-hour series premiere at 8 p.m. EST will be one of 10 episodes this season. The contestants will try to win the grand prize of $100,000. Both men and women will compete in “epic head-to-head challenges designed to test the mind, body and heart,” according to nbc.com.

Six athletes are featured in each episode. Those that are victorious in the Titan Arena will eventually compete in the season finale, leaving one male and one female winner.

“My goal was to find the best male athletes in America — to test and push them like they’ve never experienced before,” Johnson said in a recent Instagram post, regarding the show’s male contestants. “Destroy them. Humble them. Push thru pain and blood. Because when we push thru that level of pain (hey I wrestled for 30min with a detached quadricep and adductor from my pelvis, where the only things keeping me going thru the pain was adrenaline, pride and the audience) then on the other side of that pain is where the magic happens.”

The competitions might remind some fans of NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” or “American Gladiator.” Liam McHugh and Alex Mendez are the show’s commentators. Cari Champion is the field reporter.
