There is nobody bigger than the great Swiss Maestro Roger Federer when it comes to tennis. In a recent report by Sports Casting, Federer finds himself grouped together with football greats Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of the world's highest-paid athletes.
It’s no surprise that the list of the richest athletes includes Messi and Ronaldo given their impact on the world. The great debate between the two continues until this day as several arguments on both sides continue to pile up.
Listing the accomplishments of Messi and Ronaldo side by side is not enough to conclude how much influence the two have had on the global impact of football.
Throughout Messi’s professional career, he has tallied a total of six Ballon d’Or awards. The Argentinean has propelled himself as a global icon as he’s spent his entire career with Barcelona.
As impressive as this is, Ronaldo has also tallied multiple awards with five Ballon d’Or trophies. The Portuguese icon has served multiple clubs throughout his career and has hauled several awards as a professional.
These great achievements have led a spot to Forbes’ highest-paid athletes with Ronaldo coming in at $109 million and Messi at $127 million. These figures come at the mix of their annual salary and winnings combined with major endorsements.
As these two dominate the field and these rankings, Federer isn’t too far behind. The 20-time Grand Slam champion is listed to earn $93.4 million. While his earnings from his salary and winnings are only at $7.4, his endorsements take up a whopping $86 million.
Federer is known to be the face of Rolex as he shows off the elegance of the brand combined with the prestige of tournaments such as Wimbledon. It’s important to note that Federer holds the most title in men’s singles action in Wimbledon with eight championships.
Other than luxury brands, Federer also made a big switch to Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo. The former Nike ambassador has been outfitted by Uniqlo since 2018 for a reportedly $300 million deal guaranteed for 10 years.
These top athletes continue to dominate their respective sports while they pile up their earnings from their incentives.
