The Rolling Stones Cancel Australia Tour Concert After L’Wren Scott's Death; Mick Jagger's Rep Denies Reports Of Split With Girlfriend Before Apparent Suicide

The Rolling Stones on Tuesday canceled a concert scheduled for this week in Perth, Australia, casting a shadow over the band's "Down Under" tour, following the death of lead vocalist Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, L’Wren Scott, who was found dead in her Manhattan apartment from an apparent suicide.

The band was scheduled to visit seven venues across Australia and New Zealand with the first performance slated for Wednesday in Perth and concluding April 5 at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland.

“The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014. No further information is available at this time, ticket holders are asked to hold on to their tickets until a further update is available,” Frontier Touring and Concerts West said in a joint statement Tuesday.

Jagger and bandmates Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts landed in Perth Monday in their private jet, but it has not been confirmed whether the group will stay in Australia or return to the U.S.

According to reports, Jagger's daughter, Georgia May Jagger, a British model, also canceled a planned appearance at Australia's Melbourne Fashion Festival this week.

Scott, 49, and Jagger, 70, had been dating since 2001 and were often seen at celebrity events. Victoria Scarfone, a representative for Jagger, denied reports stating that the singer had broken up with his girlfriend before her apparent suicide.

In a statement late Monday, Scarfone reportedly wrote: "The story in the New York Post [of] a split between Mick Jagger and L'Wren Scott is 100 percent untrue. There is absolutely no basis in fact to this story. It is a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick."

The reports that emerged after Scott's death, who was a fashion designer and former model, cited an unnamed source who reportedly claimed that Scott had revealed to a friend that Jagger had ended their 13-year relationship. The source also reportedly said that Scott had decided to look for an apartment for herself after Jagger’s return from Australia.

Scott was found by her assistant, kneeling with a scarf wrapped around her neck that had been tied to the handle of a French door, media reports said, citing local police. The police also said that there was no note that could be found and there was no sign of foul play.

Scott had reportedly texted her assistant to come to her room 90 minutes before her death but did not mention the reason.
