Ronda Rousey Mocks WWE Universe, Former UFC Rival Analyzes Recent Outburst
Ronda Rousey is the self-proclaimed ‘baddest woman on the planet’ but she could well be on the way to be the most ‘hated woman in WWE’ also after her latest tirade against the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and their fans.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion is on the way to changing her character in WWE from the much-loved babyface to a heel. She was roundly booed by the crowd at the recent Monday Night Raw airing after she gave crowd favorite Becky Lynch a proper beat down.
Rousey cut a frustrated figure in the ring and addressed RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon about their lack of respect for the title, and her own total disregard for the authority. Following which she attacked both Charlotte Flair and Lynch with the latter getting the brunt of the onslaught.
The former UFC champion continued her verbal onslaught in her latest “Ronda on the Road” vlog where she made it clear that her comments were not part of the promo. She also gave a scathing assessment of the WWE Universe and reiterated that nothing in the WWE is real.
“It wasn’t a promo they gave me other things to say I didn't f***ing say it. It’s not a promo. It’s not an act. I’m not going out there and doing their f***ing act anymore, I’m going out there and doing whatever the hell I want. And they can explain it however they want, but f***em. Everybody. WWE Universe included,” Rousey said.
“I meant that I’m going to disrespect the sport that they all love so much. ‘Ohhhh don’t break kayfabe, Ronda!’ Wrestling is scripted. It’s made up. It’s not real. None of those b****** can f***ing touch me. The end.”
The UFC Hall of Famer also threated to quit WWE earlier in the week with reports stating that the RAW episode the day after WrestleMania on Apr. 7 could be her last appearance in the WWE. Rousey is expected to take a hiatus from the promotion despite being reportedly contracted to WWE until 2021.
Meanwhile, Meisha Tate, also a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and a long-time rival of Rousey, believes the anger and frustration from her one-time octagon opponent are real. Tate believes Lynch’s comments about Rousey’s family – mainly her husband Travis Browne – has not gone down well with the former UFC champion.
Tate also insisted that Rousey will never play by the rules and is not a “company woman,” meaning she will always go against the authority. Her in-ring debut in WWE was against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s executive vice-president of talent and the chief brand officer, respectively.
“It got under her skin. I know about this. You don’t talk about her family, you don’t talk about this, even if it’s just a joke. She does not have a sense of humor, and therefore **** got real. No, Ronda’s pissed. Ronda’s not joking. She’s not playing games. She’s not used to having to play by rules. She never had to before. Why is she going to now? She’s already broken the rule with the F-word, saying some things are ‘fake.’ She’s not a company woman. She never has been,” Tate said while co-hosting MMA Tonight on SiriusXM.
