Ronda Rousey, Other Female Fighters Join ‘EA Sports UFC Mobile’ For iOS, Android Devices
Free-to-play brawler “EA Sports UFC Mobile” by Electronic Arts (EA) has added fighters from the Women’s Bantamweight Division, including its biggest star Ronda Rousey, who now graces the game’s icon. There are seven women fighters in total, including Ronda Rousey, so this game adds some variety to the mobile fighter and makes it similar to the console version, which has always had female fighters.
The announcement was made on the “EA Sports UFC Mobile” Facebook page, where Ronda Rousey is now the page’s cover photo as well. The UFC mobile update also has other improvements and features, including 200 new levels and enhanced graphics, which clean up some of the clutter from when the game was originally released.
As to why the cover athlete was changed, Touch Arcade reported that it may be due to the fact that previous cover athlete Jon Jones is currently facing felony charges. Ronda Rousey has also proven to be quite the celebrity as of late, starring in the action film “Expendables 3” and making an appearance in this year’s Wrestlemania with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, so it could be said that choosing Rousey as the cover athlete was an easy decision.
In addition to her celebrity appearances, Rousey has also proven to be one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history, as her last fight only lasted for 14 seconds before she got a submission victory. The leader of the “Four Horse Women” still has an undefeated track record and it seems like her first loss might just be in the video game, though that could also prove to be doubtful.
The UFC mobile game plays similarly to other fighters in the mobile genre, particularly “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” where swipping and tapping fighting moves became popular. The game does have some major differences though, like the inclusion of a submission system and the ability to ground and pound the opposing fighter.
“EA Sports UFC Mobile” is available now for iOS and Android devices. The game is a free-to-play fighter, so those who haven’t tried the game out yet can do so without having to spend any money.
