According to the official website, “ Music has the power to not only bring us together but take us back to memories and moments as nothing else can. From the sweep of a conductor’s baton to a simply whistled tune, music is woven into the fabric of our lives, community, family, friendship, and love. Music heals us. Defines us. Reminds us, and inspires us to be our greater selves. Rhythm, melody, harmony, and color all come together to create the soundtrack that defines our lives. ”
The website added that, “The Rose Parade travels 5 ½ miles down Colorado Blvd. and features four types of entries: floral-decorated floats entered by a participating corporation, non-profit organization or municipality, equestrian units, bands, and Tournament Entries. Rose Parade participants have long histories with the Tournament of Roses and keep the traditions alive. The earliest Tournament of Roses welcomed 3,000 spectators to its first parade filled with beautiful, horse-drawn carriages covered in flowers. More than a century later, the parade floats are a marvel of state of the art technology, all tucked away beneath flowers and other, all-natural materials.”
Hoda Kotb, co-anchor of NBC’s Today , along with Today weather anchor Al Roker will co-host the event, making it Roker’s 22nd year as host and Kotb’s sixth year.
