Princess Diana was in a relationship with Dodi Al Fayed when they both died following a fatal car crash in Paris.

Following their shocking demise, news headlines reported that Princess of Wales died in the arms of the man that she truly loved. But on the online forum site Quora, one royal fan said that this wasn't the case.

Christopher McDonald, a former cosmonaut, claimed that Princess Diana was not really in love with Al Fayed. Even though the couple developed feelings for each other eventually, they were still each other’s rebound relationship.

“The real love of Diana’s life was Hasnat Khan, a brilliant Pakistani doctor. Friends of hers describe them as deeply committed to one another, and she was apparently willing to convert to Islam to marry him… Unfortunately, his mother did not approve of him marrying a Christian woman, even one willing to convert,” he said.

Meanwhile, fans also shared their thoughts on what they think would have happened if Princess Diana decided to wed Al Fayed after her divorce from Prince Charles. Sallie Smythe, an avid reader of royal biographies, said that the late Princess of Wales would have relinquished her courtesy title “Diana, Princess of Wales.”

Kimberly Klaus, a development coach, said a similar thing. Klaus believes that if Princess Diana and Al Fayed tied the knot, the former would have to cut all ties with Kensington Palace. She would also be stripped off her title.

However, the royal fan is also convinced that the mom of two wouldn’t have married Al Fayed because their relationship was largely fabricated by his dad. Mohammad Al-Fayed claimed that his son wanted to propose to Princess Diana just before their death.

But one of Princess Diana’s friends revealed that Prince Charles’ ex-wife said that she would rather have a hole in her head than to get married again. After all, her previous marriage was a tumultuous one. Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced 15 years after their wedding.
