'The Royal Nanny' Hallmark Movie Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis
Hallmark Channel's merry holiday season continues with the newest "Countdown to Christmas" holiday premiere, "The Royal Nanny." The film, starring Rachel Skarsten and Dan Jeannotte, premieres Saturday night.
The film will be a treat for fans, as this will be the first time the film's stars have worked together in a Hallmark movie—but they have starred together in the past, with both holding roles on the show "Reign." Of course, it will also be exciting for fans as they will likely recognize both stars from their previous work on the Network as well.
Skarsten has previously starred in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film "Timeless Love," as well as Hallmark's "Marry Me at Christmas." Jeannotte meanwhile, starred in the film "Paris, Wine and Romance" and notably portrayed Brandon Russell on "The Good Witch." He's also starred as Ryan Decker on Freeform's "The Bold Type."
Greta Scacchi ("Darby and Joan"), Katie Sheridan ("Lore"), Isabelle Wilson and Phoenix Laroche ("Trying") also star.
So what can fans expect in this film? Let's find out.
"After exposing a credible threat to the monarchy three weeks before Christmas, MI5 Officer Claire (Skarsten) goes undercover inside Kensington Palace as the Royal Nanny to protect the youngest heirs to the throne," a synopsis reads. "Claire is not the best fit for this assignment but all that is about to change as she endures a crash course in nannying by Ms. Lansbury (Scacchi)--who has been charged with training the caretakers of the royal family for the last 30 years."
Of course, things get off to a rocky start, as the royals are not what Claire is expecting.
"With her cover in place, Claire's arrival at Kensington is welcomed by Princess Rose (Sheridan), the future Queen of England and met with a barrage of mischief from Princess Elle (Wilson) and Prince Robert (Laroche), both eager to send the new nanny packing," the synopsis continues. "Relying on a combination of her MI5 and nanny training, she overcomes the challenges that come with her assignment and soon makes the lives of everyone in the royal household better, becoming a trusted confidante."
Also unexpectedly, Claire finds herself falling for another member of the royal family—but complications threaten not only her romance but the family as well.
"At the same time, sparks fly between Claire and Prince Colin (Jeannotte), rose's younger brother, but complications arise when MI5 comes to wrongly suspect a member of the royal family may be directly involved in the plot against the throne," the synopsis says. "Claire puts her career as well as her life on the line to protect not only the man she is falling for but also the Royal Family, a family she has come to feel as if she's become a part of."
"The Royal Nanny" premieres Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. EST on Hallmark Channel.
