Royal Palace Of Sweden Announces Prince Oscar’s Christening
Prince Oscar Carl Olof of Sweden will be christened at the royal chapel in Drottningholm Palace located in the outskirts of Stockholm on May 27. The Royal Place of Sweden announced the date of the baptism ceremony on its official website Monday. It is the same venue where many Swedish royals have been baptised, including Oscar’s big sister four-year-old Princess Estelle.
The one-month-old prince is the son of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. He was born at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm on March 2. The baby’s godparents have not been yet announced, but it is likely that some of Victoria and Daniel’s relatives will take up the role.
Meanwhile, Estelle’s godfather is Victoria’s younger brother Prince Carl Philip, while Daniel’s sister Anna Westling-Söderström was chosen as a godmother. Carl Philip is also a godfather to his sister Princess Madeleine’s son Prince Nicolas, who was born in June. Royal watchers are also speculating that baby Oscar will wear the same christening gown used by his sister Estelle, his mom Victoria, and his grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf.
Oscar is currently third-in-line to the Swedish throne and styled as the Duke of Skåne. Daniel, 42, announced the birth of his son to reporters waiting outside. He could not hold back his emotions as he announced the arrival of their baby prince.
The palace’s official website confirmed that the mother and child were doing well. After the baby royal’s birth, Victoria and Daniel released a picture of their daughter cuddling up to her new baby brother. Another picture showed the royal mom with her baby that was released by the palace.
During the time of baby Oscar’s christening, the Swedish royal family will have welcomed the arrival of another new prince or princess. Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia are expecting their first child. The couple are expecting their new arrival in April.
