Royal staff are working to avoid potential unwanted run-ins between the Cambridges and the Sussexes in Windsor, England, amid Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the U.K. this week, according to a report.

Prince Harry and Markle made a brief return to Frogmore Cottage earlier this week for a series of charitable events in the U.K. The Sussexes' Windsor home is on the same grounds as and just 0.3 miles away from Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children now live, Page Six reported.

The two couples, who are believed to have a strained relationship at the moment, being in close proximity to each other "presented a huge challenge for the security detail at Windsor Great Park," and royal staff made sure they won't run into each other during the Sussexes' stay in the U.K., the outlet claimed. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

"Staff are in hysterics because they literally live a stone's throw from each other, and they don't get along," an unnamed palace insider told Page Six.

Prince William and Prince Harry's disgraced uncle Prince Andrew also lives nearby at Royal Lodge, the home he shares with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, according to the outlet.

"Adelaide Cottage, Royal Lodge and Frogmore traditionally share gardens within the estate," the palace insider added.

Despite that, the insider said they believe it is unlikely that the shared area "will be used by all three families at once due to the animosity." The royals' respective secretaries are expected to coordinate schedules with each other if any of them would want to use the gardens, the insider suggested.

If [any of them] do plan on using the gardens, then they will need to be scheduled through private secretaries and security. The Yorks' diary secretary will have to liaise with the Cambridges' secretary and coordinate schedules with the Sussex secretary," the source continued.

However, among the three royals, Prince William is the priority, according to the insider.

"There is very much a hierarchy — with William and Kate at the top — and they don't get along with either of the others," the insider told Page Six.

Prince William and Middleton's rep had no comment when the outlet reached out to them over the insider's claims.

On Monday, Prince Harry and Markle attended the One Young World Summit in Manchester, England, where the duchess gave the keynote speech. They then headed to Düsseldorf, Germany, Tuesday for the Invictus Games' "One Year to Go" event.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to attend the WellChild Awards in London Thursday.

Despite being in the U.K., however, they are not expected to meet with any members of the royal family.

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter claimed on the Australian talk show "Sunrise" that Prince Harry and Markle's return to his home country was a "carefully managed visit."

The couple reportedly picked the organizations they would visit and "made sure to stay on friendly territory," according to Arbiter, who added that "with those organizations, in particular, they'll be a warm welcome."

Prince Harry and Markle are not expected to meet with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, despite the latter's invitation to join him in Scotland, because their relationship is still frosty, Arbiter claimed.
