Royal Wedding: Princess Eugenie Subject To 'Hurtful Criticism' For 'Andrew, Fergie-Style Excess'
Princess Eugenie's royal wedding has turned out to be more pompous than expected.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's youngest daughter is the next royal bride. Her upcoming nuptials is reportedly bigger than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, and this apparently hasn't sat well with some because she's only ninth-in-line to the throne. In fact, one royal expert thinks that Princess Eugenie is subject to hurtful criticism due to this.
"While I don't believe Eugenie is interested in one-upping her cousin, the three separate parties, split over the course of two days, do rather smack of Andrew and Fergie-style excess, which leaves their youngest daughter open to a swathe of negative and in some cases hurtful criticism," Victoria Arbiter wrote.
"As a private royal, Eugenie can pretty much do whatever she wants when it comes to her wedding celebrations, but unfortunately public perception is rarely favourable," she added.
Prince Andrew and Ferguson are reportedly unpopular with the British public. The Duchess of York was criticized for her questionable decisions and money woes. On the other hand, the Duke of York was condemned for his extravagant lifestyle and poor choice of friends.
According to Katie Nicholl's report, the Yorks believe that Princess Eugenie deserves her own spotlight, so they wanted her wedding day to be a big event.
It's no surprise then that Princess Eugenie will apparently have a two-day celebration for her nuptials. They will have a marquee reception at the Royal Lodge. On the second day, they will reportedly have a funfair-themed bash celebration complete with attractions and cocktails. Unsurprisingly, the report of a two-day affair has raised eyebrows among their family's critics.
"After the more formal celebration at Windsor Castle, the Saturday bash will be a relaxed party," a source told The Daily Telegraph. "There will be dodgems and funfair rides, coconut shies, lots of food stalls, loads of cocktails, Bloody Marys for the hangovers and a festival vibe."
Prince Andrew is reportedly keen on making Princess Eugenie's royal wedding as grand as possible. He reportedly even asked BBC to air the event. However, the network apparently declined because they believe that not enough people would watch it.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are tying the knot on Oct. 12 at St.George's Chapel in Windsor.
