  • A glitch during the Fortnite Doomsday event may have just revealed a yet to be revealed first-person mode
  • Although first-person mode has been available on "Fortnite: Save the World," that hasn't been the case for "Fortnite Battle Royale" and "Fortnite Creative"
  • This could be a simple mistake but speculation is still present that the glitch could lead to something different for the popular game series

The eagerly anticipated Fortnite Doomsday event might have just revealed a first-person mode for the three-year-old game.

While participating in the Doomsday event, GamesRadar reported that user @justinchad109yt suddenly glitched. The result was a fully functioning first-person mode with no serious effect on his gameplay. Although “Fortnite: Save the World has had a first-person mode for some time now, neither “Fortnite Battle Royale” nor “Fortnite Creative” have had the feature.

What happened could easily be a simple glitch or some other explanation is possible for what happened. Still, it isn’t stopping people online from speculating that Epic Games has been working on adding a first-person perspective in “Fortnite Battle Royale.”

Since launching in 2017, the “Fortnite” franchise has proven to be a lucrative one for developer Epic Games and publishers Epic Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “ Fortnite Battle Royale,” in particular, became a resounding success as it drew in more than 125 million players in less than a year, earning hundreds of millions of dollars per month, and becoming a cultural phenomenon.

Regarding the glitch, GamesRadar suspects that Epic Games could be adding first-person as a completely separate game mode, possibly without the crafting elements of the regular third-person mode. It is also possible that, like “Fortnite: Save the World,” simply switching something in the settings menu can toggle the first-person mode on or off. With no official word yet from Epic Games, the world will have to wait patiently for it.

Aside from the first-person mode, the Fortnite Doomsday event also brought the massive storm that circles the map and herds players together entirely underwater. Audiences are still left to wonder if that is a temporary event feature but, for the moment, the “Fortnite Battle Royale” map has been fundamentally altered and far more terrifying for those with a fear of open water.

“Fortnite Save the World” is a player-versus-environment cooperative game, with four players collaborating towards a common objective on various missions. It is available on Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

“Fortnite Battle Royale” is is a player-versus-player game for up to 100 players, allowing one to play alone, in a duo, or in a squad (usually consisting of three or four players).

“Fortnite Creative” is a sandbox game mode, similar to “Minecraft” where players are given complete freedom to spawn everything that is within the game on an island and can create games such as battle arenas, racecourses, platforming challenges, and more.

The latter two games are available on Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices.
