Russell Brand Released on $5,000 Bond After Arrest In iPhone Throwing Incident
Russell Brand has been released on $5,000 bond following his arrest for allegedly throwing a photographer's iPhone through a law firm's window on Monday.
TMZ reported on Thursday that Brand posted bail. The celebrity news website also reported that Brand turned himself in to the New Orleans Sheriff's Office earlier that day and was booked on two counts of simple criminal damage to property. Both are misdemeanors charges. The website also reported that Russell's camp has paid the $240 for repairs.
Authorities told the media that Brand turned himself in to police on Thursday afternoon after an arrest warrant was issued for him.
Brand is reportedly in New Orleans filming an untitled movie.
TMZ has reported that Brand's charges resulted from an earlier incident with photographer who was trying to take his photo from a car.
Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory, brand wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
Brand is the ex-husband of singer Katy Perry. He is known for the films Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.
