Russell Brand has joined one of Hollywood's most notorious circles: the mugshot club.
On Thursday, the 34-year-old funnyman turned himself into New Orleans police for an incident involving a photographer's iPhone. Brand was released on a $5,000 bond later in the day.
Earlier in the week the photographer had been taking photos of Brand, who became furious and grabbed the iPhone before throwing it through a window, according to TMZ. Brand was booked on two counts of misdemeanors (simple criminal damage to property).
Following the iPhone altercation, Brand took to Twitter to express his fury.
Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory, Brand wrote.
Brand has received plenty of support on Twitter, from his fans to Alec Baldwin. Yes, Alec Baldwin.
In response to Brand's original tweet, Baldwin wrote on Friday, @rustyrockets But might you have thrown it through the window and then up his a**?
Julianne Hough, who is currently in New Orleans working with Brand on a new Diablo Cody project, also showed her support for her co-star.
