Russian 'Popeye' Taken Out 3 Minutes Into MMA Match By Opponent 20 Years His Senior
A Russian bodybuilder known as "Popeye" was decimated in the MMA ring 3 minutes into a fight. The guy that beat him was 20 years his senior.
Former Russian soldier Kirill Tereshin is 23 years old and fancies himself to be a fighter. He injected his muscles with highly dangerous Synthol and has developed vast Popeye-like arms. This guy looks like the famed cartoon character after eating some spinach. The main difference is he didn't lay the smackdown like Popeye. Even with 24-inch biceps, he couldn't defeat a smaller, faster older guy.
Popeye did land some punches. He came out swinging at the very beginning of the fight. That slowed down abruptly after he was smashed into the cage and taken down. He tapped out after being choked.
This is not the first time that Popeye's tasted defeat. This loss comes after he was beaten by the Russian slapping champion Vasily "The Dumpling" Kamotsky earlier this year. In that match, he was flattened by Kamotskys' very first punch. At this point, it's safe to say he's in the wrong business.
Popeye was warned several times by a doctor about the dangers of using Synthol. Doctor Yuriy Serebryanskiny warned Tereshin that "it could cause pulmonary embolisms, nerve damage infections and oil-filled cysts." Seriously if you have to go to those lengths, you might want to find a different career. Is it worth risking amputation to win a few fights? Probably not.
Having been bruised beaten and almost disabled, Tereshin has now launched a fundraiser to help him raise money so that he can go to the UK and see a specialist. He is optimistic that they will be able to do something to save his muscles. When asked about using the oil, Tereshin said: “In the beginning, I wanted to inject Synthol oil into other parts of my body, but then the problems started, and I stopped using it.” One can only guess what he was talking about.
For that kind of money, he could have caught some outstanding MMA action. Probably next time he should leave it to the professionals.
