Actor Ryan Dorsey wrote a poignant message Saturday to his late ex-wife, "Glee" star Naya Rivera, a year after she was buried.
"Today…A year ago we laid you to rest. I still can't believe it. The year has flown by, so fast that it doesn't seem like it’s been a year at all. Our boy has grown so much. He's such an explorer, so inquisitive. He's sweet, so funny, and his laugh always lights up the room. He's an intuitive soul to say the least. To know him is to love him, everyone that meets him is always smiling. He's doing ok," part of Dorsey's lengthy Instagram post read.
Naya's fan @safeplacenaya promptly reposted Dorsey's post on Twitter.
His heartfelt note has so far been liked nearly 80,000 times by fans who also praised the 38-year-old for raising Josey despite Naya's absence.
A black and white photo of a smiling Josey flashing an okay sign accompanied the Instagram message, along with two snaps of Naya and a younger Josey on the side.
"He misses you but knows he'll see you again, and the invisible string is something that's helped us out during this ever-evolving transition of your time with us on earth that was unfairly & for reasons we’ll never understand cut short…too soon," Dorsey added.
Naya drowned last year while on a swimming trip with then 4-year-old Josey in California's Lake Piru. Her body was found 56 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles five days after she was reported missing, Page Six said in a report.
The current was reportedly strong that day and might have caused the actress to drown. Her boat was not anchored when she went swimming with her son, according to TMZ.
At the end of Dorsey's Instagram post, he assured Naya that Josey is doing fine and is surrounded by people who care for him.
"Fly high, Rest In Peace, knowing he's doing ok…he's being raised right, and he's got a lot of family and people around him that love him, and you," he wrote.
Dorsey was married to Naya from 2014 to 2018.
Naya's sister, Nickayla Rivera, moved in with Dorsey and Josey shortly after the star's death to help raise Josey – a move that was met with "absurd narratives" by observers.
In defense of Nickayla, Dorsey previously posted an Instagram video detailing Josey's need for the presence of his late wife's sister.
"I want Titi [Nickayla] to live with us forever because she's now the closest thing that he has to a mom," Dorsey said as per Page Six.
