  • The fight against Gervonta Davis should happen next, according to Ryan Garcia's father
  • Henry Garcia believes in his son's second-round KO forecast
  • The father says fans should not be made to wait for Garcia vs. Davis clash like that of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather

The father of interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia, Henry, feels that a blockbuster fight between his son and Gervonta Davis should happen later this year.

Henry, who serves as an assistant coach to his son, stressed that this is a fight that boxing fans would love to see. He goes on to explain that ardent followers of the sport should not be made to wait, pointing out what most did before finally seeing a Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight when he spoke to Pro Boxing Fans.

“We do not want to have people wait so long, wait years and years like Pacquiao and Mayweather,” Garcia stated. “If you want to see a good fight, you’re going to see a good fight. Ryan is now a young man, I was worried when he had mentioned it when he was 19 years old.”

Now 22, Garcia feels that his son is ripe to take on Davis and is convinced that his winning run will continue. He is concurring with “KingRy’s” prediction of knocking out Davis in two rounds.

“If that’s what he foresees in the fight, he’s capable of doing it. I told him don’t worry if it doesn’t happen, don’t worry, I said but stay on task, which is becoming victorious,” he said. “But for some reason, Ryan’s got that in his mind, all he needs is two rounds so hey, I’m with him on that.”

It remains to be seen if a fight with Davis will be next for Garcia. He is coming off a convincing win over Luke Campbell, getting up from a knockdown in the fifth round before winning the fight in the seventh frame via TKO.

However, a potential mandatory fight with official WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney stands in the way. It could be a fitting last fight before he takes on Davis to see if he is the best fighter in his weight class today.
