Ryan Gosling Reveals The Iconic Marvel Superhero He Wants To Play
Ryan Gosling is willing to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe but he wants to play an iconic Marvel character, and it's not Nova.
Josh Horowitz of MTV News took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a snippet of his interview with Gosling and debunked the rumors of the actor playing Nova's character in the Marvel movies. He instead revealed that Gosling wants to play Ghost Rider, ET Canada reported.
"Ryan and I chatted about the Nova rumors yesterday which he said aren’t true," Horowitz wrote. "BUT this morning Ryan reached out to me to say there is one superhero he wants to play...GHOST RIDER."
Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.
One of the fans shared how Nova rumors were not making sense because Nova (Richard Rider) was a high school student when he became superhero while Gosling is already in his 40s. Another one added, "That would be a great way to ruin his career."
If Marvel Studios pick the 41-year-old actor to play Ghost Rider, he will not be the first person to play this character in live-action movie. Previously, Nicolas Cage portrayed the biker who rides a motorcycle and has a flaming skull.
Cage, 58, played the role in two movies, "Ghost Rider" released in 2007 and "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," which was released in 2011. Aside from Cage, actors like Ionut Cristian Lefter and Matt Long also portrayed as Ghost Rider.
The character first appeared in Marvel comics in August 1972. It was created by Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas, artist Mike Ploog and writer Gary Friedrich.
Considering Gosling's upcoming projects, the actor will be next seen in the Netflix movie, "The Gray Man," which is slated to release on July 22.
Apart from the Canadian actor, the flick stars Chris Evans, Regé-Jean Page, Julia Butters, Jessica Henwick, Michael Gandolfini, Billy Bob Thornton and Alfre Woodard.
Gosling is currently filming for highly anticipated movie, "Barbie" featuring Margot Robbie as the title character while plays her love interest, Ken.
