Ryan Reynolds Reveals Secrets To His Successful Marriage To Blake Lively
Ryan Reynolds has opened up about the secrets behind his and actress Blake Lively's successful marriage. The actor explained how being friends is more important than anything in a relationship, ET reported.
The 45-year-old actor admitted that they both don't take each other "too seriously" and consider each other "friends."
Reynolds explained to the outlet that it is important to like each other than just falling in love for the sake of it. "Falling in love is great, but do you like each other? That's kinda the question you gotta ask yourself, you know, going into it," he said.
Considering their decade-long relationship, Reynolds noted that they have always liked each other and they "grow together." Moreover, he noted that as a couple they always keep learning from each other.
"So yeah, I'm lucky to have a buddy in that," the "Deadpool" star said.
Reynolds shares three daughters -- James, 6, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2 -- with Lively. The couple got married in 2012.
Lively and Reynolds first met on the sets of "Green Lantern" in 2010. At that time, the actor was married to actress Scarlett Johansson while Lively was dating actor Penn Badgley. However, Lively and Badgley ended their relationship in 2010 while Reynolds also filed for divorce in the same year.
On the work front, Reynolds was recently seen in an action-comedy movie, "Red Notice," which was dropped in theaters on Nov. 5 and is slated to release on Netflix this Friday. The movie also stars Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Ritu Arya, Melissa Kennemore and MWW Michael Wilkerson.
The actor will be next seen in a sci-fi movie, "The Adam Project," which is directed by Shawn Levy and penned by writers Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin. The movie will also star Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo.
Besides on-screen acting, Reynolds will also lend his voice to a TV series, "Futha Mucka," which is under pre-production.
Lively, on the other hand, will be next seen in a romantic movie, "The Making Of," which is under pre-production. The movie is penned by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. She will also feature in a movie, "The Husband's Secret," which is based on Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name.
