Saige Stiles: Missing South Florida Teen Found Safe By Good Samaritan

A South Florida teen who went missing Monday morning after complaining to her friend that someone was following her was found safe hours later by a good samaritan, authorities said.

Police located Saige Stiles, 15, of Port St. Lucie, after a search spanning 11 hours. She had disappeared while walking to Treasure Coast High School. Officials told WPFB-TV that the girl was found safe by a good samaritan in the 100 block of Paar Drive on Monday evening.

"Big thanks to Michael for locating Saige and our media partners and community for sharing this event throughout the day," a police statement read, according to WPFB-TV.

Stiles was reported missing early Monday morning. Her friend called 911 and told deputies that the teenager was on phone with her when she was walking to school. The friend said that Stiles told her someone was following her. After Stiles' concerned friend provided her location, deputies arrived at the place but the teen was nowhere to be seen. Police located her backpack and mobile phone nearby, according to WFLA-TV.

Police said they found footage that showed Stiles after the 911 call was made. She was walking behind houses in the area and didn't appear to be in any danger or distress. "She just was walking. Didn’t appear she was in danger or distress. Just walking through the backyard," Port St. Lucie police spokesman Sgt. John Dellacroce said at a news conference Monday, according to the outlet.

Police then launched a search operation for the missing teen in a large wooded area. The search involved a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office police helicopter, WFLA-TV reported.

A member of Florida’s Treasure Coast Guardian Angels Chapter found the teenager on Paar Drive, police. According to deputies, Stiles was in "good health and with PSLPD Detectives."

The deputies thanked media outlets and the community for amplifying the news of Stile's disappearance. No further information was immediately available.
