Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe Reveal What Fans Could Expect In 'Outlander' Season 5
The official release of “Outlander” Season 5 has been delayed since most of the cast members, reportedly, cannot coordinate their schedules. This, according to reports, delayed a number of filming schedules, which later affected the series’ return. Despite this, avid followers of the historical drama television show can expect more exciting twists and turn in the upcoming fifth installment.
Series lead star Sam Heughan revealed a number of things viewers can expect from his character, Jamie Fraser, in the next installment. The 39-year-old Scottish actor confirmed that Jamie made a deal with the Redcoats, which forced him to be on their side even if his loyalty belongs to the other group. The on-screen partner of Caitriona Balfe, however, made it clear that Jamie needs to do it for his family and tenants.
“He has to secure this land and make it a safe place for them, so he goes in league with the British,” Heughan told Parade in an interview. “For Jamie, that’s a pretty hard thing to do,” he went on. The “Outlander” Season 5 star added that a “great war” is bound to happen very soon.
Sam Heughan said that his character, alongside Claire Randall-Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), will “fight to make sure that they are on the right side.” He, then, revealed how filming the big battle became so challenging for them, especially with the number of cast and locations needed for the scenes. As of late, the entire crew and cast members are shooting in Scotland for America.
Meanwhile, the waiting game for “Outlander” Season 5 is still far from over because the series is not returning this year. Starz chief operating officer Jeffrey Hirsch revealed to Entertainment Weekly, during the Television Critics’ Tour in California, that the imminent fifth installment is likely to arrive in early 2020.
Caitriona Balfe, who portrays as Jamie Fraser’s wife in the series, previously, revealed that she and Sam Heughan will be taking a longer break than the usual. The fiancée of Anthony McGill said they have seven months of hiatus. When asked about how long the series could continue, Balfe revealed she is clueless at the moment. The “Outlander” Season 5 actress, however, said that Diana Gabaldon has a “few more books” planned “so we’ll see.”
